Dr. Robert Bruce Wittenborn D.C., 72, of Lawrenceville died peacefully on Sunday, August 30, 2009 at Capital Health Systems at Fuld, Trenton. Born in Trenton on April 24, 1937, he was a Lawrenceville resident most of his life. Dr. Wittenborn served two years in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1965. Dr. Wittenborn earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Columbia Union College in Takoma Park, Maryland in 1968. He went on to receive his Doctorate in Chiropractic from Life Chiropractic College, Marietta, Georgia in 1977. He was admitted to the State Bars of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida and Mississippi as a licensed practitioner of chiropractic medicine. For the past 26 years, Dr. Wittenborn took great pride in providing quality care to the communities of Lawrenceville and Morrisville, PA. Dr. Wittenborn was an active member of the New Jersey Chiropractic Society, the American Legion Post 414, the B.P.O.E. Elks of Hamilton, and the Beach Haven Marlin and Tuna Club. To his family, Dr. Wittenborn is best remembered as a loving husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, brother, uncle, and avid fisherman, who lays claim to Long Beach Island's Fisherman of the Year in 1997, at least that is how the story goes. Son of the late Dr.William F. J. and Blodwyn Jones Wittenborn, he is survived by his beloved wife Lynn Collins Wittenborn, his son, Deric Wittenborn and his fiance' Sona Bray of California, his daughters; Rendi Wittenborn and her fiance' Joseph Slackter of Trenton, Tracy Miller and her husband Jeff of Summerville, SC, and Terri Jacob and her husband Paul of Newtown, PA., and his six grandchildren; Daniel and Lauren Miller, Alec, Neil, and Natalie Jacob and Takisha Gomez. Also surviving are two brothers and sisters-in-law; Dr. William and Ruth Wittenborn of Allentown, and Elwyn and Arlene Wittenborn of Hopewell Township, and nieces and nephews; Tim and Jill Duffy, David and Benita Wittenborn, Dr. John and Sandra Wittenborn, Mark and Christiana Wittenborn and Dr. William and Ann Wittenborn and several great nieces and great nephews. Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 11 AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville with the Rev. Chris Gentile officiating. Burial will be in the Ewing Church Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6 PM to 9 PM at the funeral home
