Janice S. Cella, 84, of Whiting died on Wednesday, June 17, in the Southern Ocean County Hospital in Manahawkin. She was a former resident of Trenton, Ewing, Willingboro and Medford, NJ.

Mrs. Cella was born in Trenton and graduated from Trenton Central High School in the Class of 1942.

She was the daughter of the late Horace A. and Glenna Reynolds Smith Sr. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Louise, a brother, Horace A. Smith Jr., and an aunt, Harriet Reynolds. She is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Andrew M. Cella Jr.; a daughter, Betsy Bergen of Medford; a son, Andrew and his wife, Linda, of Fairfax, VA, and her grandchildren, Sarah Bergen, Catherine Hoose, Katie Malcolm, and Andrea and Nicholas Cella. She is also survived by three sisters, Glenna Eastham of Surfside, SC, Marjorie Merriam of Murrells Inlet, SC, and Nancy Crane of Cape Coral, FL, and nieces and nephews.

As a young child, Janice enjoyed sketching and drawing and was enrolled in the Trenton School of Industrial Arts. She continued her interest in the arts, taking various courses and then specializing in watercolor painting. She was an associate member of the Garden State Watercolor Society and was a member of the Willingboro Art Alliance, exhibiting her work in their annual shows. She also participated in art shows at The Perkins Center for the Arts in Moorestown, NJ, the Smithville Mansion, and the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Mount Laurel.

Janice was a loving mother and homemaker. She was a charter member of the Presbyterian Church of Willingboro, NJ, where she served as a Christian Education teacher and as a member of numerous committees within the church. Janice also volunteered at the Rancocas Valley Hospital in Willingboro for many years.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 23 at the Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. Burial will follow at the Ewing Church Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
