Edward J. Skorupa, 87, of Lawrenceville died Wednesday, at Compassionate Care Hospice in Trenton.

Born in Trenton, he was a Lawrenceville resident most of his life.

He was an Army veteran of WWII having served as a corporal.

Mr. Skorupa was employed as a supervisor at General Motors in the Fisher Body Division in Ewing, for forty one years before retiring in 1981.

He was a member of The Church of St. Ann and the American Legion Post 458.

""Big Ed"" as he was known to family and friends, enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, and loved to watch the Phillies. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and adored his grandchildren.

Son of the late Valentine and Eleanor Pazdan Skorupa, and brother of the late Frances, Charlotte and Julian ""Scoop"" Skorupa, he is survived by his wife of 54 years, Florence Ferraro Skorupa, his son and daughter-in-law; Robert E. and Judy Skorupa, his daughters and sons-in-law; Mary and Mel Elliott, Janet Ciccone-Szejner and Robert Szejner, and Eleanor and Jeffery Downs, his grandchildren; Jason, Michael and his wife Jennifer, Todd and his wife Lisa, and Kimberly Skorupa, Jennifer and Michael Elliott, Christopher and Daniel Ciccone, and Stephanie and Morgan Downs, and many nieces and nephews.

His family would like to thank Paula Azara, a special niece for her wonderful support and care through the years, and special thanks to Compassionate Care Hospice for all the loving care they provided.

The funeral will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. from Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at The Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. Burial will be in the St. Hedwig Cemetery, Ewing.

Friends may call on Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
