James Fisher Obituary

James S. Fisher, 82, of Pennington died on Saturday at Capital Health Systems at Mercer.


Born in Pennwood, PA he was a Pennington resident most of his life.


Mr. Fisher was a Navy WWII veteran who served in the Pacific for three years. He was a Gunnerâ??s mate on the USS Moale DD 693.


He was a carpenter for over 50 years with the Carpenters Millwright Local #31 in Trenton.


Mr. Fisher was a member of the Pennington Presbyterian Church and a former assistant baseball coach for Hopewell Little League and Babe Ruth teams.


Son of the late Munson W. and Emily Fisher Bellis, and step brother of the late Stella B. Londahl and Helen B. Johnson he is survived by his wife, Jane Ernst Fisher, three sons and daughters-in-law: James E. and Judith Fisher of Titusville, Robert W. and Rosa A. Fisher of Toms River, Thomas Lee and Maryann Fisher of Pennington, nine grandchildren: Dr. Jennifer E. and Mara M. Fisher, Michael and Christine Fisher Forrest, Michael A., Meredith C., and R. Scott Fisher of Toms River, Eric T., Brian J. and Molly M. Fisher of Pennington, and three great grandchildren: Allissa M. Stephan, Nathan W., and Colin R. Forrest. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Anna E. McNellis of Hamilton, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Frederick and Evelyn Ernst of Florida and special nieces, nephews, and cousins.


Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM from Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville with the Rev. Paul Rhebergen, of the Pennington Presbyterian Church, officiating . Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton. Friends may call on Wednesday at the funeral home from 10 AM until time of service.


In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made in Mr. Fisherâ??s name to a church or charity of their choice.
