Obituary of Theresa D. Ciosek
In Loving Memory of Theresa D. Ciosek –
November 10th, 1928- January 4th, 2025
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Theresa D. Ciosek beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Avid card and word game player, casino lover, Long Beach Island sunset chaser, Brookshire Senior Community social chair, reader, talker, math wizard, bird watcher, backyard baseball playing, candy store going, tea party having, Nanny to many. To know her was to love her. A front porch chat on a sunny summer day, followed by a beer with lots of foam are a few of the simple things so many of us cherished with her. It is in these small moments we will miss and remember her the most.
Mrs. Ciosek was born in Trenton, NJ and was a long-time resident of Lawrence Township before moving to Long Beach Island in 1976. After 26 years on the Island, she returned to Lawrence Township. She worked in the Lawrence Township school system as a secretary before retiring to LBI. She was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Brant Beach and a volunteer at Southern Ocean County Hospital.
Daughter of the late Stanley and Stella Zdanowicz and wife of the late Joseph Ciosek Sr. she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Jr. and Karen Ciosek of Florida, a daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Michael Carroll of Randolph, NJ, and four grandchildren & their spouses – Kristen & Michael Gluck, Steven & Whitney Ciosek, Morgan & Zac Moser, and Melissa & Billy Shanley.
Sister of the late Emma Lotys, Eleanor Zdanowicz, Michaline Zdanowicz and Joan Notaro and brothers Stanley, Martin, Donald, Brother Ben, and Rudolph.
She is also survived by brothers Clifford and Joseph Zdanowicz and wife Virginia. She was preceded in death by her great-grandson Nicholas Gluck and is survived by 6 great-grandchildren; Alexia and Gianna Gluck, Olivia and Jaxson Moser, and Celine and Eli Ciosek. Also, many nieces and nephews.
Theresa loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
There will be a public visitation for Theresa on Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 10-11:30AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
*** Funeral services and interment will be held privately and for the immediate family only.***
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations that will be used to purchase a bench in her memory at the beach in Ship Bottom where she lived for 26 years. This gift will enable many grandparents and great-grandparents to watch their grandchildren play. Those wishing to donate can make a check out to her daughter, Joanne Carroll, and mail it to: 8 Wilkeshire Blvd., Randolph, NJ 07869.
