Obituary of Virginia V. Skwara

Please share a memory of Virginia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Virginia V. Skwara, 95, born in Trenton, joined her Creator on December 11th, 2024. At 11 am EST, the Angel of Silence met Ginny and carried her to a place free of sorrow and pain.

Ginny dedicated 20 years of her life as a Felician Nun (Sister Rosetta), teaching in schools across Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and New Jersey. Her teaching career spanned nearly 60 years, during which she taught Kindergarten, 1st grade, and Special Needs children in the Trenton School District. Although she officially retired in 1994, she continued to serve as a substitute teacher for over 15 years.

Ginny also mentored Junior Practicum students from the College of New Jersey, serving as an outstanding role model for generations of teachers. She was honored as “Teacher of the Year” in 1965.

Ginny attended St. Hedwig Elementary School and Cathedral High School in Trenton. She earned a Bachelor of Education degree from Seton Hall University, a Master’s of Education, a Master’s of Developmentally Handicapped degrees, and a Supervisor’s certification from the College of New Jersey.

An active member of St. Hedwig’s Rosary Society, Ginny served as its secretary for several years. She had a deep devotion to the Felician Sisters Foundress, Blessed Angela Truszkowska, and her personal Guardian Angel. Ginny was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

Ginny enjoyed crafts, making religious dolls, sewing, painting, gardening, and caring for the Blessed Mother Shrine in her yard. She was an ardent bingo player and dog lover, especially Tessie, who provided comfort and laughs. Ginny supported many organizations, including Children’s Organizations in Poland, Foreign War Veterans and American Paralyzed Vets.

Predeceased by her parents, Walter and Mary Boryczka Skwara, and her siblings Anna Pietras, Sophia Koreyva, Frances Craynock, Steffie Gorski, Bertha Lis, Dorothy Varga, Mary Schrader, Henry Skwara, and Father John Skwara, Ginny is survived by her many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. They will remember her as the “life of the party,” “lottery winner,” “family historian,” and “jokester.” We love you, Aunt Gin!
