Obituary of Linda J. Kawalek
Linda J. Kawalek, 78, of Lawrenceville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 7, 2024, surrounded by family.
Linda was born in Trenton, NJ, and was a long time resident of the Lawrenceville area. Linda attended St. Paul’s Grammar School, Notre Dame High School, and Rider College, where she graduated in 1968. Linda married Kenneth Kawalek in 1970, and one year later, they welcomed their son, Eric. She worked from home as a medical transcriptionist and then as Administrative Assistant to the Executive Vice President of Bristol Myers Squibb in Princeton. She worked at Bristol Myers Squibb as the editor of a scientific newsletter until her retirement in 2001. Linda enjoyed jewelry making, gardening, and interior decorating, but what she loved most was vacationing and traveling. Whether it was visiting Long Beach Island with her girlfriends, visiting Walt Disney World with her family, or cruising with her husband, Linda’s best memories were with friends and family, usually near a beach. Her trips to Hawaii and Alaska were among her favorite. In retirement, Linda loved to visit her friends in Virginia, spend every Wednesday with her grandson, and see live performances at the theater.
Daughter of the late Joseph Walentine and Helen Karcz, Linda is survived by her loving husband of 54 years Kenneth Kawalek; son Eric Kawalek, his wife Kelly, and grandson Dylan Kawalek; sister Sandra Wilkinson, her husband John, and nephews Jonathan and Christopher Wilkinson; sister-in-law Maryann Lukaszewski, her husband John, nephew John James, his wife Bridgette, and their daughter Carli. Linda will be deeply missed by many cousins, neighbors, and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at the Church of St. Ann located at 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery located in Hamilton, NJ.
Visitation for Linda will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, from 9:00 – 11:00 AM in the rear Chapel at the Church of St. Ann.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK) or to St. Jude.
