Obituary of Dennis L. Durling

Dennis L. Durling, 75, of West Trenton, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton.

Born in Trenton, NJ, Dennis was a lifelong resident of the West Trenton area. He graduated from Ewing High School, where he was a standout athlete in football and track & field. He then completed his business degree at Trenton State College. After college, Dennis proudly served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, graduating from Parris Island in 1967. Following his retirement from the Marine Corps, Dennis continued his dedication to public service by serving in the New Jersey Army National Guard Reserve, retiring as a Staff Sergeant (SSG) after 20 years of honorable service. He later worked for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection for over a decade, and 5 years as a golf associate at Princeton Country Club.

Dennis was an avid golfer his entire life. He found great joy in teaching and mentoring golfers of all ages, including his children and grandchildren. Beyond the golf course, he cherished spending time with his family, whether watching football, relaxing poolside, or enjoying trips to Long Beach Island, NJ. His curiosity and passion for lifelong learning led him to explore various pursuits, always seeking to expand his personal and professional skills.

Dennis was the beloved son of the late Leon Durling and Veronica Krecicki. He is survived by his former spouse, Christine Durling, his two sons Marc and Chad, their wives Lidia and Karin, and four cherished granddaughters, Kayla, Olivia, Paige, and Drew Durling; his sister, Carol Dailey and her husband David; and his brother, Earl Durling. Dennis will be deeply missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Hedwig Roman Catholic Church, 872 Brunswick Avenue, Trenton, NJ. Interment will follow at St. Hedwig’s Cemetery in Ewing, NJ.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ.
