Obituary of Rita A. Devine

Rita A. Devine, 84, of Lawrenceville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 26, 2024 at Capital Health Regional in Trenton, NJ with her loving sons Bob and Jim by her side. Rita goes on to join the love of her life, her late husband Robert A. Devine, with whom she shared over 56 years of marriage.

Born in Trenton, NJ she had been a resident of Lawrenceville, NJ for many years.  Mom graduated from Cathedral High School in Trenton and devoted herself to her family her entire life.

Mom was the most caring, nurturing and supporting Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother imaginable. She took such pride in her boys. She truly blessed her family with her love, knowledge, quick wit and quiet fortitude in every conceivable situation. She was always available to her friends and family at a moment’s notice. She loved spending time with her family every single chance she had. Mom loved spending time on the back of Dad’s motorcycles on many trips as far as Florida and loved her 2^nd Honeymoon trip on the two-wheeler to Yosemite National Park. Summer trips to Lake George with Dad made her so happy. Mom was a member of the Holy Rosary Society and also a special ladies group attending 4 o’clock mass at St. Ann Church every Saturday also enjoying the monthly lunches “with the girls”. She loved her garden and flowers throughout her yard. She was a Mom to many adorable dogs over the years and loved reading.

Daughter of the late Stanley and Mary Wisniewski, and loving wife to Robert A. Devine who we lost in 2017, she is survived by her two sons Robert G. Devine and wife Victoria, James S. Devine and wife Katherine; grandchildren Robert Devine Jr. and wife Jenna, Kevin Devine and wife Devon, Kyle Devine and significant other Michelle, Katelin Devine and significant other Sean, James N. Devine and significant other Julia; great-grandchildren Ryleigh, Giavanna, Francesca, and Kevin Jr. We are all extremely grateful for everything MomMom has done for all of us and the love she showered on us.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 4^th, 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Church of St. Ann located at 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648

Burial will be held at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Hamilton, NJ.

The visitation for Rita will be held on Tuesday September 3, 2024 from 6-8PM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648

Visitation will continue the following morning in the rear chapel at the Church of St. Ann from 9:30- 10:30 AM prior to the Mass of Christian Burial.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
