John P. ""Jack"" Oakley, Sr. Obituary

John P. “Jack” Oakley, Sr., 89, of Lawrenceville, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Capital Health Medical Center, Hopewell, NJ, surrounded by his loving family.


Born February 8, 1935, he was a longtime resident of Lawrenceville.  Jack retired as Captain of the Trenton Fire Department, Engine Company 8.  He was a member of the New Jersey National Guard, Nocturnal Adoration Society, Knights of Columbus, Eucharistic Minister and devout member of The Church of St. Ann and St. Michael's Catholic Church, and a life member of Slackwood Volunteer Fire Company.  Jack was an avid runner, passionate animal lover, and devoted Philadelphia Sports fan.


Husband of the late Angela Marie Oakley; son of the late Thomas and Mary Oakley; brother of the late Thomas Oakley and Dorothy Parker; son-in-law of the late James and Antoinette Delvecchio; brother-in-law of the late Lorraine Oakley, Susan Powell, Roger Brown and John Seckinger.  He is survived by his children, John “Jack” P. Oakley, Jr. (Samantha), Donna Oakley, and Michael Oakley (Lisa); grandchildren, Gianna Oakley (Drazen) and Emma Oakley; sisters, Rita Formaroli (Ted) and Mary Brown; sister-in-law, Josephine Seckinger; brother-in-law, Richard Powell; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 11:00AM at The Church of  St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.


Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Hamilton.


The visitation for Jack will be held on Thursday evening from 5-8PM and again on Friday morning from 9-10AM at the funeral home.
