Robert Salter, 82, of Lawrenceville died Wednesday, July 4th at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Francis Medical Center, Trenton. Born in Burnt Corn, Alabama he resided in Cleveland, Ohio; Linden and Rahway, NJ before moving to Lawrenceville 2 years ago. He retired in 2004 after 50 years as a truck driver with various companies, the most recent being the Vaccaro Motor Messenging Service in Jersey City, NJ. He was a member of International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 560. Son of the late Clinton and Lucresia Lee Salter, husband of the late Amy Henderson Salter and step son of the late Bob McCaskill, he is survived by his son, Robert E. Salter and his partner Rowyn Capers of Lawrenceville; a sister, Mary L. Perry of Maywood, Illinois; two brothers, Bob McCaskill Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Evergreen, AL. and Charles McCaskill of Orlando, Florida, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his two brothers: Aurelius Salter and Willy Sam McCaskill and his sister Bernice McCaskill. Memorial services will be held on Saturday July 14, 2007 at 2 PM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Electronic Information and Education Service of NJ (E.I.E.S.), P.O. Box 411, S. Orange, NJ 07079.
