Joseph S. Bonanno, 62, of Lawrenceville died Thursday at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in New York City, Mr. Bonanno resided in Broomall, Pennsylvania before moving to Lawrenceville 28 years ago. Mr. Bonanno was employed by the University Medical Center at Princeton from 1981 to 2004 where he served as Executive Vice President. In 2004, he became the Senior Vice President of the Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg, PA where he remained until his retirement in 2007. He earned a Bachelor's degree from Rutgers University, Class of 1968, and furthered his education at Duke University where he received a Master's degree in hospital administration in 1970. An active member of his community, Joe served on the board of directors for the American Red Cross, the Village Civic Association of Lawrenceville, and Family and Children's Services of Central NJ, and was on the Notre Dame High School Long Range Planning Committee. As a member of the Church of St. Ann, he served on the school advisory board and was actively involved in the Renew Group and Helping Hands. Son of the late Salvatore Bonanno, he is survived by his wife, Bernadette (Robin) Ginther Bonanno, his two daughters, Theresa and Katie Bonanno and Katie's husband, Patrick; his mother, Sally Bonanno; his two sisters, Mary Bonanno and Anne Nieglos and her husband Kenneth; two aunts, Rose Musumeci and Anna Bonanno and many other loving relatives. Relatives, friends and colleagues are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 11 AM at the Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville with the Rev. Vincent Gartland, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceville Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 5 to 8 PM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, www.poulsonvanhise.com. There will be no calling hours Tuesday morning prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, (www.lustgarten.org), 1111 Stewart Ave., Bethpage, NY 11714.
