I met Jake while working at Kramer Beverage. He wasn’t just a coworker, but a true friend! One of the most genuine people I’ve ever met, with a heart of gold. I will always remember him walking into the room with a smile on his face, no matter how early it was, the smell of his cologne, his stylish outfits, and him playing with my hair while we sat in the office waiting for our meeting to start. Outside of work, a group of us hung out often and got to make many memories at the beach, birthday parties, tubing, etc. He and I would drive around and listen to music when Harley was a puppy, and one of his favorite songs to play in his truck was West Side Story by LFO. I used to tease him about it at first because this is a boy band that me and my girl friends used to love when I was a teenager, but it became “our song,” and we would always blast it in the car. Randomly now when I have my Apple Music on shuffle, it comes on often, and makes me feel like Jake is there. I can still see his smiling face and hear his voice clear as day in my mind. I am SO happy that I was able to know Jake and be a part of his life. Forever in our hearts!

I met Jake in intermediate school during an origami after school program. A few years later, in High School, he sat in front of me during English class. One day he asked to put on one of the rings I was wearing. He squeezed it onto his thumb and quickly realized it was stuck. I tried so hard to contain my laughter watching him comically try to remove the ring while not being a disruption to the class. He eventually had to ask the teacher if he could go to the bathroom and “lubricate his finger”. This of course caused the whole class to laugh. We had a lot of fun together but that memory always seems to be first in my head whenever I think of Jake. He was kind but even when he was mad, he could still make you laugh. I’m thankful I had the chance to know him. My deepest condolences to the Ball family.
