Obituary of Zygmunt "Ziggy" Knochowski

Zygmunt Knochowski, 69, of Trenton and previously Lawrenceville, passed away on September 22nd, surrounded by his family. He was lovingly known to his family, friends, and community as “Ziggy”. He was born in Szczecin, Poland on February 19, 1954, to Wanda Knochowska and immigrated to the United States in 1976, where he established roots in Trenton and proudly became a United States citizen in 1981. Zygmunt worked at General Motors in West Trenton for 18 years. He loved photography and established Knochowski Photography in 1985. As a photographer, Ziggy served the Mercer County community and beyond for over 30 years, photographing over 1000 weddings and special occasions throughout his life. He was voted Best Photographer in Mercer County and received a local Reader’s Choice award. In his personal time, Zygmunt enjoyed spending time with his family, capturing beautiful memories of his many loved ones through his gift of photography, listening to his vast music record collection, watching soccer and traveling. He was also incredibly proud of his Polish heritage and would light up when speaking of its history. He was preceded in death by his mother Wanda; aunts Jadwiga and Marianna; and cousins Danuta, Janek, Janina and Krystyna. Zygmunt is survived by his wife Emilia; son Adam and his wife Jeanette and daughters Evelina and Kristina ; daughter Natalia and her husband Michael and daughter Lyla; stepson Marcin and his family in Poland; and his former wife Anna. Zygmunt is also survived by his many loving cousins: Andrzej and his wife Teresa; Barbara; Bogdan and his wife Barbara; Halina and her husband Zdzislaw; Jadwiga; Jane and her husband Zenon; Weronika; and their many children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His funeral will begin on Friday morning at 9:00AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Rd. (Rt. 206 ) Lawrenceville 08648. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM at Saint Hedwig Church, 872 Brunswick Ave, Trenton, NJ 08638. Interment will be held at St. Hedwig Cemetery, Ewing Twp. The viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 8:00PM at the funeral home.
