Elizabeth Anna Dzikiewicz Obituary

Elizabeth Anna Dzikiewicz, 75, of Trenton, died peacefully on Tuesday May 16, 2023 at her daughter’s home in East Windsor, just one day shy of her 76th birthday. She fought metastatic breast cancer for two and a half years as only she could: with grace, dignity, optimism, determination and immeasurable strength. She was a Polish force of nature surprising her dedicated doctors, nurses and caregivers with her toughness and resolve as cancer placed many obstacles in her way.

Born in Gdansk, Poland, Elizabeth has been a resident of Trenton since 1977 when she arrived in the United States with her beloved husband Andrew and only child Agatha for better opportunities. Elizabeth worked hard her entire life starting as a librarian in Poland. She was a retiree of the Trane Corporation of Trenton where she was employed in the production department for many dedicated years until her retirement in 2013. She was proud of her advocacy for Trane employees in her Union positions.

Daughter of the late Szczepan Pilski and Jozefa Bagienko Pilska and wife of the late Andrew L. (Andrzej) Dzikiewicz, she is survived by her loving daughter Agatha N. Dzikiewicz (Mark Altamore), brothers Andrzej Pilski (Ewa) and Janusz Pilski (Barbara), nephew Wojciech, and nieces Magdalena, Agnieszka and Ada (all living in Poland). She also leaves behind a multitude of dear and loving friends.

Words can not do justice to describe Elizabeth and her spirit: full of life and energy beyond her years, she spent her entire life giving to and helping others. You could not keep her home as she ran daily to help others in some way. She was generous and loving to no end. She was a “party girl” who loved spending time with family and friends, which included travel to many places around the world post retirement. Above all, Elizabeth had a passion for gardening, shared with her dear friends. The beauty of her garden left many astounded.

She will be sorely missed by family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 AM at St. Hedwig Catholic Church, 872 Brunswick Ave., Trenton with the Rev. Canon Dr. Jacek W. Labinski officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery in Ewing.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ
