Joan Loved God and She Loved Her Family. She married once, and when that love ended, she didn't falter. I know she turned to Jesus and family for strength whenever she needed it. But honestly we all could turn to her and find great love, compassion, and strength to help us get through life's challenges.
Kenny Rogers's hit "Through the Years" was one of her favorite songs. And its lyrics speak the truth in my bond with Joan and in Joan's bond with God and Family.
— THROUGH THE YEARS —
I can't remember when you weren't there
When I didn't care for anyone but you
I swear, we've been through everything there is
Can't imagine anything we've missed
Can't imagine anything the two of us can't do
Through the years, you've never let me down
You've turned my life around
The sweetest days I've found, I've found with you
Through the years, I've never been afraid
I've loved the life we've made
And I'm so glad I've stayed right here with you
Through the years
I can't remember what I used to do
Who I trusted, whom I listened to before
I swear, you've taught me everything I know
Can't imagine needing someone so
But through the years it seems to me
I need you more and more
Through the years, through all the good and bad
I knew how much we had
I've always been so glad to be with you
Through the years, it's better every day
You've kissed my tears away
As long as it's okay, I'll stay with you
Through the years
Through the years, when everything went wrong
Together we were strong
I know that I belonged right here with you
Through the years, I never had a doubt
We'd always work things out
I've learned what love's about, by loving you
Through the years
Through the years, you've never let me down
You've turned my life around
The sweetest days I've found, I've found with you
Through the years, it's better every day
You've kissed my tears away
As long as it's okay, I'll stay with you
Through the years

There has never been a day, nor will there be a day when I don't have a fond memory or share thoughts about Joan. As long as I can remember, she has been my little sister, and I cherished her always. She taught me how to overcome tough obstacles and not to hold onto past pain. She loved to laugh, and was the loyalest friend to all her friends. You could confide in Joan and know it would stay locked up.
I can't find one word that really expresses Joan as a person. She was a giver most of all, but that doesn't even scratch the surface of all she was. She was my rock. She was my hero. She was my best friend. She had such a gentle spirit, but don't let that fool you--she was no fool. She would not stand for people being hurt if she could help it. One time while walking around the neighborhood she rescued a woman she heard yelling from the bathroom. Joan didn't hesitate to enter the woman's house & remove the obstacle that was forcing the door shut. The woman was so relieved because she had a small child in another room of the house, unattended.
Although I know Joan's Spirit lives on, I miss her presence in my life. I miss all the holidays, the birthdays, the movies. Joan loved to visit every restaurant that opened up. It was her thing to try something new all the time. One of my best memories is the vacation my mom and Joan and I took to 4 islands of Hawaii. Joan loved taking vacations and just loved life. Together we'd routinely go to amusement parks with dates, we'd take the dogs to Spring Lake, sing karaoke, and bake. She helped decorate my home and I helped decorate hers. One of our new things was attending the Hungarian festival (June 7, 2016 I think-a couple pics here).
Joan: When I see you again, I will say thank you. I can't wait to laugh with you again. I love that you loved me and I love you a billion times that.

Joan was a great example of how a person can persevere despite disability. She was fiercely independent until she couldn’t be.
She was my hero and I loved her.
My sincere thanks to all those who helped support and care for her over the years.
Now she is free to rest and enjoy heaven with our parents.

Joan was a very gentle and loving aunt to all of us Kondash kids. We always enjoyed catching up with her on birthdays and holidays. She enjoyed exchanging photos with all of us to stay up to date on life events and would always provide encouragement for us to do well. We love her very much - May she rest in peace.
Love,

Dear Kondash Family,
Deepest sympathy on the loss of your sister. It was a honor to accompany her, not once, twice, but
Three times to Cincinnati to see Steve and his family. Whether it was flying out of Philly, or Trenton,
It was fun. Rest in Peace Joan! Your illness is over.
