Obituary of Patrick A. Worrell

Patrick A. Worrell, 78, of Lawrenceville, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Preferred Care of Mercer in Ewing. Born in Newtown Kitty, British Guiana (Guyana), he attended Chatham High School, Georgetown, and South Thames College, London, UK, on a British Council Scholarship. After passing the Senior Cambridge Exam at 16, Patrick worked as a Pupil Teacher, and later joined the Audit Department of the Civil Service. Upon independence from the UK, he was seconded to Foreign Affairs and served at the Guyanese Embassy in Brazil and Suriname, assisting in setting up the revenue and accounting sections. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1977, residing in Queens, NYC, and worked at various jobs before joining Merrill Lynch, moving to New Jersey when the company relocated in 1986. He later joined Cenlar FSB, where he worked for more than 30 years, retiring as Reconciliations Manager in 2018. Son of the late Julian A. and Lucille E. Worrell, he is survived by Laureen J. Worrell, his wife of 44 years, his son Adrian B. Worrell, daughter-in-law Emiko Worrell, his grandchildren Benjamin S. Worrell and Catherine C. Worrell, his siblings and their spouses Jean Persaud (Ontario, Canada), Edward and Myrna Worrell (Mechanicsville, VA), Joan White (Richmond, VA), Julian and Carolyn Worrell (Federal Way, WA), and David and Diane Worrell (St. Lucia, W.I.), many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 12:00 Noon at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. There will be a visitation hour from 11AM until the time of the service. Interment will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
