Diana M. Ionata (92) of Ewing, NJ peacefully passed away on February 24, 2023 surrounded by her family.
Daughter of the late Geremia and Antiope Gentile and sister of the late Louis Gentile, she was born in Bayonne, NJ and a lifetime resident of Ewing, NJ. She was a graduate of Bayonne High School and Notre Dame College in Staten Island, NY with a BS in Commercial Education. She was a teacher at Villa Victoria Academy in West Trenton, NJ and a retiree from Wells Fargo Bank.
She was a loving wife of 57 years to the late Paul Ionata and a devoted mother to her five children, Dennis Ionata (Michele), Sandra Kellar (Arlie), Claudia Gonzalez (Juan), Maria Matteo, Michael Ionata (Sandra). She leaves behind five grandchildren, Alejandra (Chris), Juan (Nicole), Ana, Carla and Steve (Kaitlin); eleven great grandchildren; her brother Alfredo (Helen); sisters-in-law Rose and Yolanda; her nephew William (Amy) and their three children, Lindsey, Matthew and Jessie.
Mrs. Ionata was a devoted paritioner of Incarnation Church where she served as Lector; President, Treasurer and Secretary of the Rosary Altar Society and taught religion (CCD) at Incarnation school. She was a volunteer at St. Lawrence Rehab and Morris Hall in Lawrenceville, NJ.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 3, 2023 at 11:00AM at Incarnation Church, 1545 Pennington Road, Ewing, NJ.
Entombment will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hamilton Twp.
The viewing will be held Thursday evening 5:30-7:30PM at Poulson and Van Hise Funeral Home, 650 Lawrence Rd., Lawrenceville, NJ 08648 and again on Friday morning from 10:00-11:00AM at the church.
