Elizabeth ""Bette"" Cranstoun, 91, died on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009 at St Joseph's Skilled Nursing Unit at Morris Hall in Lawrenceville. Elizabeth was born in Princeton, and was a Lawrenceville resident most of her life. Elizabeth graduated from Trenton State Teacher's College. She was devoted to teaching young children and was a teacher for the Lawrence Township Schools. She was a dedicated member of the Benjamin Franklin School staff since opening day in 1961 until her retirement in 1980. Elizabeth maintained her enthusiasm for learning throughout her lifetime. She had a love of reading, history and current events. She was a long time member of The Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville where she taught Sunday school and bible school. She was also a member of The Lawrenceville Grange, The Rosedale Home Makers and the Lawrenceville Senior Citizens Club. Daughter of the late Cecil E. Leigh and Catherine M. (Reed) Leigh, she is survived by her husband of 63 years, Earl S. Cranstoun of Lawrenceville; her daughter Virginia E. Stoops and her husband James R. of Hamilton Sq.; her granddaughters Rebecca Leigh Sisk and her husband Matthew A. of Lawrenceville and Jennifer Lauren Stoops of Hamilton Sq.; her great grandson Fletcher James Sisk; her sisters Eleanor Harrelson of Princeton and Verna Blackwell and her husband Alvin of Mercerville; her sisters-in-law Dorothy Skellinger and Dorothy Moore both of Lawrenceville; brothers-in-law Milton Cranstoun and his wife Delores of Princeton and Stanley Cranstoun and his wife Sandra of Yardley, PA. She leaves behind many good friends and cherished nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 11 AM at The Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville, 2688 Main Street, Lawrenceville. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Elizabeth's name to The Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 710 West 168th St., New York, NY 10032 or to the Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville, 2688 Main St., Lawrenceville, NJ 08648
