Sebastiano (Sebastian) DiScala, 78, of Lawrenceville died suddenly at home on Thursday November 24 surrounded by his family. Born in Testaccio, Ischia, Italy he was a resident of Lawrenceville for the past 56 years. In 2002 he retired after 35 devoted years with Local #50 Laborer’s Union of Princeton. An avid gardener, Sebastian would often be found tending to his vegetables. He also loved fishing, hunting, cooking and spending time with family and friends. He was known as a son, husband, dad, brother, uncle, and friend. His favorite name was Poppie to Nicholas and Karleigh. Son of the late Antonio and Giovanna Iacono DiScala and brother of the late Michael and Christina DiScala he is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Carmela Sasso DiScala, his daughters; Joann DiScala, Vicki DiScala and her husband Matt Emmons and Samantha Iraca and her husband Chris; his grandchildren Nicholas and Karleigh Iraca and his brothers Luigi, George, and Giuseppe DiScala. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 29 at 11:30 AM at the Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday from 9 to 11 AM in the daily chapel at the church. Burial will be in Italy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to honor Sebastian may be made to Square Foot Gardening Foundation at www.squarefootgardening.org
