Obituary of Gabriele D'Amico

Gabriele D’Amico, 85, of Lawrenceville, NJ passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, September 18, 2022. Born in Loreto Aprutino, Province of Pescara, Italy, he was a resident of Lawrenceville for 65 years. Gabriele retired from the Lawrence Township Public Board of Education where he was affectionately known as “Mr. Gabe”. Earlier in his career he was a welder with Morris Wheeler, Inc. Gabriele was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree, Saint Ann Council #7000 and member of Roma Eterna. He played soccer with the Trenton Italian Soccer Club and later in life enjoyed playing bocci on various teams. He enjoyed watching professional sports especially soccer, football, and cycling. His strong work ethic, love of family and God was evident in everything he did. He was a man of integrity, faith, and generous of heart. He passionately loved gardening, being outside with nature and traveling, but above all, he fiercely loved his family. He was loved beyond measure and will be greatly missed by his family and those who were fortunate to have known him. Son of the late Vincenzo and Angiolina D’Amico; he is survived by his wife of 59 years of marriage, Irene; three daughters Rita Nini (Umberto), Lisa Mackin (Chris), and Marisa Seals (Danny); five grandchildren Anthony Nini (Jaclyn), Amanda Christensen (Tony), Tommy and Brianna Seals, and Christopher Mackin; and two great-grandchildren Theo Nini and Flora Christensen. He is also survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, a sister Elvira Di Zio, and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Gabriele on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 11:00AM at The Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Visitation for family and friends will be held in the daily chapel from 9:30 - 11:00 AM. Entombment will follow at St. Mary’s Mausoleum, Hamilton, NJ.
