Obituary of Carl Kovacs

Carl Kovacs, 84, of Lawrenceville, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Hopewell, NJ. Born in Trenton, NJ, he was a lifelong resident of Lawrence Township. As a young man, Carl served in the NJ National Guard with the 112th Armory for seven years at the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis. He retired in 1997 from the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 9 after 38 years. Carl was a life member of the Lawrence Road Fire Company Station #22, a member of the American Legion Posts 414 and 458, and he served as a part-time bartender at the VFW Post 3022. Son of the late Irene Kovacs (nee Papay), Carl is predeceased by his sister Irene Kovacs and son-in-law James Yard. Carl is survived by his loving wife Amelia of 60 years; daughters Deborah Yard and Donna Ireland and her husband Robert; sons David Kovacs and Douglas Kovacs and his wife Laura; grandchildren Nathaniel and Jacob Yard; Ryan Yeager and his fiancé Noelle; Dillon Yeager and his wife Ashlie; Brendan Yeager and girlfriend MaryKate; Devin Yeager and boyfriend Matt; Thomas and Amanda Kovacs; and great-grandchildren Quinn, Olive, Julia, and Ben; and special people in his life, sister-in-law Lorraine Morris, John Yeager, and fishing buddies Danny DiMarco and Jimmy Smith. Carl will be dearly missed by his faithful Golden Retriever, Luke. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022, from 9-11 AM in the chapel at The Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrence Township, NJ 08648. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM at the church. Burial will take place at Ewing Church Cemetery located in Ewing, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Carl's memory to the Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue (DVGRR), 60 Vera Cruz Road, Reinholds, PA 17569.
