Obituary of Zoltan Jim Pandak

Zoltan ""Jim"" Pandak, 77, of Lawrenceville died on Friday at the University Medical Center of Princeton. Born and raised in Trenton, Jim began to work for General Motors after graduating from Trenton High School. He attended General Motors Institute (GMI) in Flint, Michigan, earning his Bachelor of Industrial Engineering in 1955. From 1956-1957, he served honorably with the U.S. Navy. Upon his discharge from the Navy, Jim returned to GM, where his work eventually took him to Michigan in 1967. He worked at the GM Tech Center in Warren, MI until 1988, retiring after 38 years with the company. He resided in Lawrenceville since 2000. Jim enjoyed many sports including fishing, sailing, skiing, golf, and tennis. He was a member of the National Ski Patrol, an avid traveler, and a passionate cook. He also held two patents, including a tennis net center strap that automatically set the net at 36"" with no need for an outside measuring device, and a traveling toothbrush holder that also served as a carrying case. Son of the late Josef and Helen Garba Pandak, he is survived by his wife Susan DeMichele Pandak, his son Jason Pandak and his fiance Stacy, his brother and sister-in-law Ted and Bette Pandak, his brother-in-law Cliff DeMichele and his wife Debbie, his nieces and nephews: Tracy Norman and her husband Bob, Carol Pandak, Danielle Sofocli and her husband Loucas, Vincent DeMichele, and his grand nieces and nephews: Alex and Joshua Norman, and Gianna and Nicole Sofocli. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 9:30 AM from Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. Burial will be in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.
