Obituary of Mary "Doris" deBlois

On Monday, March 22, 2021, Mary Doris Kelley de Blois “Nascar Nana”, loving wife and mother of three children, passed away at the age of 86. A resident of Lawrenceville, NJ since 1969, Doris was born on March 14, 1935 in Trenton, NJ to Harold and Pauline Kelley. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School in 1953. Early on, Doris worked for the Bell Telephone Company and as an office nurse for the late Dr. John Sakson, of Trenton NJ. On July 10, 1954, she married Francis Gerry de Blois. They were most happily married for 60 years and they raised three daughters, Kat, Connie and Valerie. In 1962, Doris “Dar-Babe” accompanied Gerry “Doc” to Kirksville, Missouri with their young family so he could obtain his medical degree. They returned to Trenton, NJ in 1968 where Dr. de Blois D.O. joined Ewing Medical Associates, where she worked as a medical assistant until her husband’s retirement. She was a member of St. Ann’s Altar Rosary Society, was vice president of St. Ann’s PTA and volunteered for many years as a member of St. Francis Medical Center Auxiliary. The loving couple was passionate about their family, travelling, singing and for the church. They were members of St. Ann’s Adult Choir, in Lawrence Township for 22 years, and Doris was also a member of St. Ann’s Resurrection Choir and sang at all the funerals for 15 years. In 1996 the St. Ann’s Choir sang for Saint Pope John Paul II in Rome and Doris was blessed to be able to touch the Pope’s hand. Doris was predeceased by her loving husband, Gerry in 2014 and her son-in-law, Philippe in 2003. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Germaine and husband, John Crush, and her sisters-in-law, Evelyn de Blois and Betty de Blois Rickett, her three children and their spouses, Kat Prévost, Connie and Bob Alton, Valerie and Laurent Le Moing, her “magnificent eight” grandchildren, Jeffrey, Charlotte, Will, Pauline, Max, Tess, Chloé and True, and two great grandchildren, Annika Jolie Alton and Gustave Philippe Barqueiro Prévost, and many nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, March 29, 2021 at 10:30AM at The Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrence Township, NJ 08648. Attendees are asked to arrive to the church no later than 10:15AM. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hamilton. Flowers or donations may be sent to The Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
