Obituary of Albert David Timko, DDS

Albert David Timko, D.D.S, 78, of Trenton, NJ, passed away on January 17, 2021 in Plymouth Meeting, PA after a courageous 2-year battle with cancer. He will be remembered always for his kind and gentle spirit. Dr. Timko, “Al,” was born in Trenton, NJ to Albert S. and Marie C. Timko on July 29, 1942. He graduated from Trenton Catholic High School in 1960. He then graduated from La Salle College in Philadelphia with a BA in German in 1964 and graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson School of Dentistry in 1968 with a D.D.S. After 2 years on active duty as a dental surgeon in the U.S. Air Force, he taught dental anatomy and prosthodontics at Fairleigh Dickinson for several years and later served as the head of dental surgery at Trenton State Prison. He opened his private general dentistry practice at 1891 Pennington Road in Ewing in 1974. For 40 years, he cared for countless patients of all ages and walks of life, seeing multiple generations of families, in a small home office. By his side always, was his wife, ‘Nurse Pat,’ his right hand, as his office assistant and partner, until they both retired in 2014. In retirement, Dr. And Mrs. Timko relocated to the NJ shore, Osborne Island, in Little Egg Harbor, NJ. He continued practice as a participating dentist in the Special Smiles Program doing mobile dentistry for underserved pediatric populations throughout the state of NJ. Dr. Timko was a lifelong model airplane enthusiast and artisan. He built scale models by hand and flew them competitively, winning many awards. He was an avid hiker, voracious reader, movie buff, and loved his many pets. Dr. Timko is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patricia Timko, his brother David Timko, his daughter, Mercedes Timko, MD, his son-in law, Anthony La Rosa of Conshohocken, and his precious granddaughter, Sophia La Rosa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 11AM at Incarnation-St. James Parish 1545 Pennington Road, Ewing, NJ 08638. Interment will follow at Brigadier General Wm C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, N. Hanover, NJ. The viewing for Dr. Timko will be held on Tuesday morning from 9-10AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Memorial donations may be made to Penn Medicine Abramson Cancer Center, Penn Medicine Hospice, and the American Cancer Society. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all of Penn Medicine and also to the many patients of Dr. Timko who entrusted their dental healthcare to him over the years.
