Milton Pelovitz, 77, of Lawrence Township, passed away Tuesday November 25, 2008 in the University Medical Center at Princeton. Born and raised in Somerville, NJ, Mr. Pelovitz was a graduate of Cornell University School of Engineering class of 1956 and held a Masters degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He was also a veteran of the army having served in Korea. Milton was married to Ruth Frank in 1961 and resided in Lawrence Township for 47 years. A devoted family man, Mr. Pelovitz raised his children Dorothy and David, and served the integral role of guardian to his niece, Lisa Herbert, after the loss of her parents. He took pride in watching all three grow to become respected adults and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Pelovitz lived a full, happy life with his family. He worked for over 30 years at the Plasma Physics Laboratory at Princeton University as an engineer on their ongoing fusion project. He took particular joy in cooking and travelling with his family as well as community service work. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Ruth; his daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy A. Frank and Andrew J. Hollander of Chatham, NJ; his son and daughter-in-law, David L. Pelovitz, Ph.D. and Sharon Stoneback of Watertown, WI; his niece, Lisa A. Herbert of Los Angeles, CA; his grandchildren Cassidy and Jordan of Watertown, WI and Caleb and Sam of Chatham, NJ; and his brother Stanley Gilbert Pelovitz of Lake Worth, FL. He is predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Fay Pelovitz of Somerville, NJ and his brother, Morton Herbert Pelovitz of Los Angeles, CA. A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 28 at 12:30PM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Rd., Lawrenceville, NJ In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to endow an award at Cornell in his name.
