Wilfredo “Willy” Melendez, 76, of Trenton, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at St. Francis Medical Center, Trenton. Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, he lived in the Trenton area for over 30 years. Willy retired from The Diocese of Trenton, where he was employed as Sexton of St. Joachim’s Church. He was an avid animal and nature lover, enjoyed watching boxing matches, and doing crossword puzzles. Predeceased by his mother Providencia Valdivieso, his wife Luz Martinez, and his brother Joseph Melendez, he is survived by his children and their spouses Melba and Ismael Suazo, Willy Melendez, Theresa Melendez and Carlos Negron, and Andrew and Ana Melendez, his grandchildren Nelson Villanueva, Adrian Ortiz, Gabriela Melendez, Ruby Melendez, Jazmin Negron, and his great-grandson Blaise; two brothers and their spouses Jaime and Lillian Melendez, and Carlos and Ana Melendez, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, funeral services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
