Obituary of Joan O'Rahilly

Joan M. O’Rahilly, 73, of Lawrenceville went to her eternal reward on September 4, 2020 joining her daughter Erin Ann in Heaven. Joan was born in Millstreet County Cork, Ireland, she emigrated to the United States in 1965. She resided in the Bronx, New York prior to her moving to Lawrenceville in 1986. She retired from the State of New Jersey, Department of the Treasury after 18 years of dedicated service. A devoted mother and grandmother, Joan loved cooking for her family especially at Easter and Thanksgiving when her extended family joined her. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and kind heart. She loved her Irish dancing and never shied away from getting on the dance floor. She treasured her friends in Sons and Daughters of Erin. A devout member of the Church of Saint Ann, she volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister, opening the church and taking Holy Communion to the home bound. Predeceased by her parents Daniel and Catherine Creedon and her in-laws Mary, Jerome and Bill she is survived by her husband Aindreas; her sons, Gerard and daughter-in-law Michele O’Rahilly, and Andrew and daughter-in-law Katharine Kasziba-O’Rahilly; her grandchildren, Aidan, Erin, Sarah and Ronan. Also surviving are her brothers Paddy and Mickie, her sister Sheila; in-laws Kathleen, Batt, Denny, Breda, Nuala, Dan, Tim, Sean and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 12 at 11 AM at the Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road. Lawrenceville. Visitation in the daily chapel will be held from 10 AM until time of mass. Due to COVID19 restrictions a face mask is required as well as social distancing. Burial will be private.
