Obituary of Alexander Crea Marion

Alexander Crea Marion, 19, of Lawrenceville, NJ passed away suddenly on Sunday August 16, 2020 after a valiant battle with heart disease. He was attending Rutgers University and was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta “FIJI” Fraternity; Nu Beta Chapter. Alex was born in Trenton, NJ and raised in Lawrenceville, NJ, where he participated in many youth sports and activities. A 2019 graduate of Lawrence High, he was an active student and athlete playing varsity lacrosse, wrestling, and football. In his senior year he was Captain of both the lacrosse and wrestling teams. At graduation, he received several awards and scholarships. He was also a 2018 graduate of both New Jersey American Legion Boys State and New Jersey State Trooper week. While he did not attend, Alex also received a nomination to the US Military Academy (West Point) from Senator Robert Menendez. He was an avid volunteer in the community, a past member of the Lawrence Township Patriotic Committee, a Knight of the Bald Table volunteer shaver for St. Baldrick’s, and youth lacrosse coach. Alex was member and 2019 graduate of the US Naval Sea Cadets Corps, Dempster Division. He enjoyed video games and loved heavy metal music and concerts. Alex also had a great appreciation for the outdoors, developing an interest in hunting and fishing. Predeceased by his maternal grandfather Anthony Crea, and his paternal grandfather Anthony “Mickey” Marion. Alex is survived by his loving parents, Toni Marie and Anthony Michael Marion, sister Sarah, his maternal grandmother Ceil Crea and his paternal grandmother Doris Marion, cousins Nicholas Zolkiwsky, Cara Zolkiwsky, Zachary Calderone, Nicholas Calderone, his aunt and uncle, Carla Crea and Dave Zolkiwsky, aunt/godmother Caroly Vaupel, aunts Donna Calderone and Lisa Pointin, many caring family and friends as well as his pit bull Benny. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 from 9-11AM at The Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ. A PRIVATE FAMILY ONLY mass will immediately follow. Please follow all social distancing guidelines, and masks must be worn at all times. Attendees are asked to pay their respects and exit immediately to allow others to also pay their respects.
