Obituary of Mary B. Allison

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary Beatrice Galdi was born October 29, 1950 to Joseph and Mildred Galdi at Hunts Point Hospital in Borough of Bronx, New York City. The family lived in the Bronx until in 1961 a job transfer for her father necessitated the move to Lawrence Township New Jersey, where she lived for the rest of her life. She initially attended Notre Dame High School in 1964 and then transferred to Lawrence High School when it opened in 1966. Mary was a music lover and was always dancing and singing whenever she got a chance. Able to make anyone laugh she was the poster child for full of life. As a lover of music, from Soul to the Beatles to Disco, Mary would listen to music up until her last days at Atrium Acute Care. “Alexa play 80’s disco” was her mantra over that last 2 years. After leaving high School Mary went to work for the State of New Jersey in Trenton as a clerk for roughly 10 years before moving on to the Human Resources Dept of Bristol Myers Squibb. In 1980 she joined Gilbane Building Company where later she met her future husband Jeffrey Allison. Mary learned the needle arts of sewing, needle point and knitting from her grandmother. This would lead to her interest in fashion and design. Later, with the encouragement of her husband, Mary started her “Allison Interiors” window treatment fabrication and interior design consulting firm. Being able to make colors and patterns sing a particularly beautiful song was what differentiated Mary from most Interior Designers. It was instinctual. Mary loved all animals, but dogs were her favorites. She would have many faithful pets during her lifetime. Muffin the Yorkie, Henley, and Keara the Light Golden Retrievers and finally her movie star Sheltie, Meadow. She even had the family of squirrels from the tree in front of our house eating peanuts out of her hands. The love in her heart attracted them as they knew they were safe. She named the boldest of that group “Stella”. Mary is survived by her husband Jeffrey Allison of Lawrenceville NJ, her daughter Danielle Allison of Ewing NJ: her brother Frank of Hamilton NJ, nephew Michael Galdi of New Orleans, niece Cherin Galdi and great niece Peyton Szul of Hamilton NJ, sister in law Joyce Allison of Newark, brother in law Dr. Jon Allison, his wife Jeannette and two sons Jonathan and Jordan, along with sister in law Amy Allison and niece Naomi Allison of University Place, WA, along with a number of other relatives and friends. She will be missed. Visitation will be held on Friday August 7, 2020 from 5:30-7:00PM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
