John Stever, II

Obituary of John F.X. Stever, II

John F. X. Stever II, 67, of Lawrence Twp. passed away on Thursday at his home. Born in Philadelphia and raised in a row home in the Oxford Circle neighborhood, John later moved to the far northeast section of the city. He moved to Lawrence Twp. in 1995 where he’s resided ever since. He retired from the Philadelphia Naval Ship Yard after 23 years of service where he had been employed since graduating high school. He took great pride in his current position as the Director of Quality Assurance at L.M.T Mercer Group where he made strong personal connections with his co-workers. He was a parishioner of The Church of Saint Ann and a 17-year member of the Knights of Columbus Lawrence Council #7000 where he served as Treasurer. John was an avid cyclist for most of his life. It was a love that he shared with his brothers that began back in the mid 70’s. He especially looked forward to the City to Shore ride that they participated in together each September. He had a strong passion for cars with a special interest in German automobiles. Anyone who knew John knew how immaculate he kept his own vehicles, a trait which he instilled in both of his sons. The son of John F. Stever and the late Elizabeth (May) Stever, John is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Kathleen (Morreale) Stever; his two sons, John and wife Laura, and Matthew; his siblings Donna Ely and husband Tom, Gary Stever, Patricia Beck and husband Lloyd, and Mark Stever and wife Kim. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at 11:30AM at The Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hamilton. The viewing for John will be held Thursday morning from 9:30-11:30AM in the daily chapel at the church. Please follow all social distancing guidelines and masks must be worn at all times. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Knights of Columbus Lawrence Council 7000, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
