Avery King Johnson, 26, of Ewing, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Capital Health Regional Medical Center Born in Mercer County on March 12, 1994, he was a former resident of Lawrenceville, before moving to Ewing. Avery was a graduate for Lawrence High School, where he was known from his friends as 'Big Ave'. He studied Electrical Engineering at Mercer County Community College. He enjoyed math and kept a collection of books studying equations. Avery was a free and wandering spirit, he enjoyed nature walks and hiking; he had a passion for cooking. He spent most of 2019 in San Diego exploring options to continue his education out on the west coast. Avery was on a journey of self-discovery, he pursued his connection with nature, the ocean and keeping physically fit. During his time there Avery lived near Mission Bay Beach, worked in a French Bistro Bo-Beau. He would send post cards home from landmark locations in San Diego to simply say he was 'Enjoying Cali, Love Your Son Ave'. Avery loved to cook and come up with his special creations, he loved movies, music and anime. He also loved keeping momentos from special moments, cards, collector coins, pictures, posters, special tokens, or anything that was linked to a special memory. Avery was a quiet force and his presence brought peace and calmness to those around him. His family always received praise on his intelligence and peaceful mannerism. Grandson of the late Denise Alice Johnson, Margaret Peggy Shaw and Harry Kyle Shaw Jr. Avery is survived and will be missed dearly by his parents Maisha Ayanna Johnson and Harry Kyle Shaw III, his grandfather, Jack Johnson III, his Uncle's Jahmal Johnson, Kobie' Johnson, Jairo Victor-Jimenez and King S. Davis, his Aunt Shauri Johnson, his special Aunt, Maxcene Santos, his older brother Aaron Johnson, his younger brother, Ja'Kai Johnson and younger sister, Kayla Shaw, his Great Aunts: Jeanette Murrell, Nancy Love, Maxine Gordon, Sheila Johnson, Charlotte Johnson, his Cousins Anthony Gordon, Jason Gordon, Randy Gordon, Andrew Gordon, Daniel Johnson, Noelle and Nina Johnson, Stephen Love, baby Jayden and an abundance of other Great Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, extended family, his childhood friend Julian Feliciano and life mentors Mrs. Princene Santos, Mrs. Jane Wyche and DeKelvin Irving. Funeral services for Avery will be held 11AM on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Those in attendance are required to wear a facial covering and must exit the building immediately after paying their respect to allow others to do so.
