Lyda MacNaughton, 102, formerly a long time resident of Lawrenceville passed away peacefully on Sunday at The Clare Estate in Bordentown.
Born in Pemberton, she resided in Lawrenceville from 1953 until 2016 when she moved to The Clare Estate at the age of 98.
Lyda retired as the Head Audit Clerk for the State of New Jersey, Department of Corrections after 25 years of dedicated service. She was a faithful member of the Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church for over 50 years.
Lyda was the loving wife of the late Lesley A. MacNaughton. She was predeceased by her daughter June E. Morris, brother Merton Stout, granddaughter Alesia Van Steen, and step-son Lesley G. MacNaughton. She is survived by her granddaughter Leslie Leonard and her family, daughter-in-law Phyllis MacNaughton, grandsons Scott MacNaughton and Sean MacNaughton, along with many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, brother Frank Stout, sister-in-law June Stout, and several nieces and nephews.
Lyda and her late husband Les spent 50 happy years together after first meeting at a dance. She loved her vacation travels with Les, as well as the winter months they spent in Ft. Lauderdale for over 20 years. Lyda loved entertaining family and friends in her home. She was a very strong, independent woman who took great pride in everything she did. Lyda was happiest spending time with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by her family who were blessed to have her for so long.
Due to the social distancing restrictions a private family service will be held with burial to follow in the Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton, NJ.
