Obituary of Phyllis Lynn Colavita-Kownacki

Phyllis Lynn Colavita-Kownacki, 68, of Lawrenceville, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at home surrounded by her family. Born in Fort Bragg, NC, she was a former resident of Trenton and Ewing, before moving to Lawrenceville. Phyllis was a Claims Examiner for the State of NJ Department of Labor and Industry, having retired after many years of service. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, watching as many games as possible. Predeceased by her father Anthony J. Colavita; she is survived by her husband James Kownacki, her son and daughter-in-law Robert and Patti Reali; her grandchildren Bryan, Teresa and Jaiden Mickus; her mother Marilyn Sorter; her step-mother Donna Colavita; her siblings Don and Vicki Heater, Anthony and Fran Colavita, Joey and Nina Colavita, Mark and Becky Colavita, Pam Carpenter, Cindy Caserta and Dawn and Dave Pinterich; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; two step daughters Tracie Mickus and Jamie Kownacki A celebration on Phyllis’ life will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at 10AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Inurnment will follow at Ewing Cemetery, Ewing Twp. Relatives and friends may visit with her family on Monday, July 20, 2020 from 4-7PM at the funeral home. Please follow all social distancing guidelines and masks must be worn at all times. It was Phyllis’ wish that you would consider donating Hunter’s Hope, PO Box 643 Orchard Park, NY 14127. This foundation was established in 1997 by Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Buffalo Bills Quarterback Jim Kelly and his wife Jill, after their infant son Hunter was diagnosed with Krabble Leukodystrophy, an inherited fatal nervous system disease.
