Obituary of Digna Marie Winter

Digna Marie Winter, 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at Rose Hill Assisted Living Facility in Robbinsville, N.J. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, she moved to New York City at age three where she grew up. In 1962 she moved to Stanhope, N.J. with her family. She later moved to Lawrenceville, NJ where she lived for 22 years before moving to Robbinsville. Digna was employed for many years at Macy’s Department store in Morristown, N.J. She loved her work and retired in 1990. Some of her hobbies included her meetings and trips with her beloved Tea Ladies, music, singing, and vacations at the beach and abroad. Digna sang in several choral groups in Lawrenceville including the Silver Tones which she enjoyed very much. She had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed a social outing. Digna was a gentle and selfless woman who lived her life with grace. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Digna was predeceased by her mother, Aurora “Dora” Lopez, her husband Charles C. Winter, and sister Miriam Melendez. She is survived by her daughters, Christine (Kevin) Masterson and Patricia Winter; grandchildren Bryan (Elizabeth) Masterson, Leah (Jesse) Gargano; great grandchildren, Olivia and Eliza Masterson and Brody and Aubrey Gargano. She also leaves a close cousin and her husband, Virginia and Robert Otto, their son Rob, cousin John Lantigua, nephew Michael Burns, niece, Elissa Johnson, and several nieces and nephews. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, funeral services will be private. A celebration of Life service will be held at a later time.
