Obituary of Ginetta "Gina" Ammirata

Ginetta “Gina” Ammirata, age 89, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2020 with her loving children and grandchildren at her bedside at Capital Health Regional Medical Center. She was born January 21, 1931 in Flushing, NY, loved living in Italy for many years, then moved to Bound Brook before being a longtime resident of Lawrence where she raised her family. She moved to Hamilton Square in 2014. She married the love of her life, Dr. Anthony V. Ammirata on August 30, 1958, who preceded her death in 2016. She is also predeceased by her parents Antonietta, whom she loved and admired, and Carlo Gentile. Gina loved to spend time with people, especially her family. She shared her remarkable cooking skills with her husband, children, grandchildren, friends, neighbors, auto-mechanic, doctors, the butcher, and anyone else she came in contact with. She enjoyed being a homemaker raising her four children and basking in their successes. She also liked sewing, celebrities, dogs, humor, and attended mass daily from home. Her hands were rarely still. Gina appreciated her time in Italy when she was young and told those stories with much fondness. Gina is remembered by all as a warm-hearted person. Gina is survived by her four brothers who are her best friends, Salvatore Gentile, Mario and his wife Patricia Gentile, Frank and his wife Victoria Gentile, and Anthony and his wife Diane Gentile; her children, Salvatore Ammirata and his wife Debbie Innie, her daughter Adrienne Gagliardi, and her son Anthony and his wife Wendy Ammirata; her grandchildren, Alyssa and her husband William Steinmann, Lauren and her husband Scott Young, Adriana Gagliardi and her father Francis Gagliardi, Ryan Ammirata, and Jordan Ammirata; her great grandson Lincoln Young; her many nieces and nephews and good friends. All of these she loved and touched deeply. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 3, 2020 at 8:30 a.m. at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a. m. at The Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Interment will be held at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
