Obituary of Deborah Jones
Deborah DuBois Jones (or Deb as all her daughter’s friends called her which she loved) passed away on September 19, 2019.
Deborah was born in Hackensack on March 9, 1955. She graduated from New Milford High School in 1973. Deb was a lifelong Yankees fan, and early in her career worked for the Dodgers, hoping to see them face off in the World Series this year. Deborah also loved the theatre, attending a number of productions in New York as well as McCarter Theatre locally. She loved music, and saw Joan Baez on her farewell tour. She also loved flowers; a week did not go by without her arranging fresh cut flowers in her home. She had a very successful career in the hotel business where she also met Randy. She then became a stay at home mom when her daughter was born in 1993. Deborah and Savannah were best friends!
She is survived by her husband Randall Jones, her daughter Savannah Rose Jones, her siblings Sandra, Michael, Holly, Peter and Erik, as well as many nieces and nephews, Tim, Ted, Dave, Nick, Daniel, Katie, Allison, Christopher, Angelina, Dylan and Delaney; two step-sons Jason and his wife Kellie, and Randy, Jr., a granddaughter Lucy; and two grand-cats. She will be remembered by her generosity, her care for others, her quick wit and great sense of humor, her ever-changing hair, and glitter everywhere. And as everyone who has a card from her knows, Deb would want to be remembered as a writer.
Deborah unfortunately struggled with mental illness and all she wanted people to know was that it is okay to get help. Never be afraid to reach out when you need someone.
A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 from 4-6PM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
Interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Every Child Valued After School Program, 175 Johnson Avenue, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
