Obituary of Paul Yuke Sing

Paul Yuke Sing, 78, a 34 year resident of East Windsor, NJ died of heart failure due to complications from lung cancer, which he valiantly fought for two years, on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center in Hamilton, NJ. Born in Toledo,20OH, he graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toledo where he was a member of the varsity tennis team, wrestling team, cheerleading squad, and Alpha Phi Omega, now part of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. When Paul began his career as an aeronautical engineer at Bell Aerospace Corp., he also served for 8 years in the U.S. Naval Air Reserves. He mostly worked on spacecraft propulsion systems at Atlantic Research, Fairchild Industries, and most recently, RCA AstroElectronics/GE. A lifelong lover of tennis, he participated in USTA, Princeton Indoor Tennis Club and Mercer County tennis leagues. Additionally, Paul taught tennis for over 20 years in the youth program for the East Windsor Recreation Dept. Paul was a member of the United States Tennis Association, Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association, and the Organization of Chinese Americans. Son of the late Charles Y. and Jung See Sing and predeceased by brothers Daniel and Calvin, he is survived by his loving wife Penny, a son Michael and a daughter Lynda. Also surviving are his siblings, Doris Hedler, Ruth Wong, Albert, and Edward & his wife, Helen, along with 40 nieces & nephews and their families of 53. The funeral will be held on Sunday, August 31 at 4 PM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrencevill e, NJ. Burial will be at Historic Woodland Cemetery in Toledo, OH. Family and friends may call on Saturday, August 30 from 3 to 5 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Paul's memory be made payable to the Paul Y. Sing Memorial Fund, Attn: Mary Betz, PNC Bank, 76 Nassau St., Princeton, NJ 08542. Contributions will be used to support community tennis, cancer prevention, support and research.
