Obituary of Gilda Toto
Gilda Toto, 89, with God’s love and surrounded by her loving family, entered peacefully into God’s Kingdom at Morris Hall Meadows at Lawrenceville, NJ on April 23, 2019. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend and neighbor.
The daughter of the late Giovanni Toto and Maria Venezia Ruberto Toto, she was born in Pettoranello del Molise, Italy and immigrated to the United States in 1954 at the age of 24 to join her husband in Princeton, NJ. Gilda was proud of her Italian heritage. She spent her life as a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, cooking, baking and celebrating holidays and life’s special occasions. Gilda was a longtime parishioner of St. Paul’s Church, Princeton and also the Church of St. Ann, Lawrenceville. She was employed and retired from Lord & Taylor after more than twenty years of service.
Wife of the late Berardino M. Toto and mother of the late Anthony R. Toto she is survived by her three loving children; daughters, Rosemary C. Sciabbarrasi and her husband Giuseppe, Anna G. Majeski and her husband Tony; Son, Paul M. Toto and his wife Jill; her grandchildren (the joy of her life) Melisa Keller and husband Christopher, Michael Sciabbarrasi and his wife Alexis; Matthew Sciabbarrasi, Andrew Tomaszewski and Jenna Toto; her great-grandchildren, Briella, Carina and Michaela. Gilda was also the sister of the late Evelina Toto, Michele Toto and his wife Angiolina, Camillo Toto and wife Cristina, Riccardo Toto and wife Elvira and Silvio Toto and wife Clara. She especially enjoyed her close-knit relationship with her many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. We are forever grateful and thankful for the care given to our mother by the staff of Morris Hall Meadows.
Her funeral will begin on Monday, April 29 at 8:30 AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, 214 Nassau Street, Princeton, Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, Hamilton.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
