Richard Lurie, Editor, NJ Legislative Manual posted a condolence
Monday, April 22, 2019
Our deepest condolences on the passing of our friend and colleague. He was a great help to me personally, and his knowledge of our state was unsurpassed. He made a tremendous effort to make sure we would be able to pick up where he left off in producing the Legislative Manual, which is something we'll always remember and appreciate. I particularly enjoyed discussing the ins and outs (especially the outs) of local politics with him.
We will be dedicating the 2019 edition of the Legislative Manual (which will be going to press shortly) to his memory.
Best wishes
Richard Lurie, Editor

I worked with Adrian at The Press
for many years. He was an inspiration, both professionally as well as personally. Adrian wrote beautifully and always made the complicated issues of Trenton easy for readers to understand. He was also blessed with a wicked sense of honor. The world is better for his being.

My parents were classmates at JCState and friends with Adrian. As a young child I recall backyard barbeques in Lawrenceville - the huge walls of ivy made a lasting impression. As did the lively political discussions.
My dad passed away 10 years ago. My Mom last year.

Adrian, was one of our officers who served as Lecturer with Lawrence Council 7000 (2002-2004). We share the same passion in Tennis. A very humble and caring person. Rest In Peace brother Knight.

As a writer and editor during a 40-year career with the Asbury Park Press, I worked with many journalists, but few matched the talent, integrity and sense of humor of Adrian Heffern. If a book is ever written about those who contributed most to the success of the Asbury Park Press, there'd surely be a chapter devoted to Adrian Heffern's versatility and class.

Adrian was one of the most competent and circumspect journalists I ever had the privilege to work with... a highly respected staff member of the Asbury Park Press when The Press was one of the best regional newspapers in America. A decent man, a good citizen. Would that we had more of his type in our nation.
