Obituary of Wesley D. Rice
Wesley D. “Wes” Rice, 76, of Ewing Twp., passed away on Friday, January 18, 2019 at Capital Health Medical Center, Hopewell surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Trenton, NJ, he was a former resident of Yardley, PA and Lawrenceville, before moving to Ewing 49 years ago. He is a Vietnam Veteran, having proudly served his country with the US Air Force. Wes is a retiree from the City of Trenton, where he was employed as a Fire Inspector and Sub Code Official. Some of his hobbies included spending time at the firehouse, fishing and photography. He was a charter member of the NJ Chapter American Society of Plumbing Engineers, a life-member and past president of Prospect Heights Fire Company, a former member of the Lawrenceville Fire Company, Mercer County Fire Prevention and Protection Association, past Ewing Twp. Fire District #2 Commissioner and past member of the Central Jersey Code Officials Association. Wes was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Predeceased by parents Nicholas and Gertrude Rice; he is survived by his wife of 52 years Arlene Rice; his daughter and son-in-law Annemarie and Bryan Abelowitz; his son and daughter-in-law Kevin and Jennifer Rice; six grandchildren: Andrew, Rebecca (Matthew), Matthew, Michael, Jared, Keeva and his great grandson Michael.
The viewing for Wes will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 from 5-8PM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
Interment will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
