Obituary of Edward P. Barclay, Sr.
Edward P. Barclay, Sr., 91 of Ephrata, PA, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at The Gardens at Lititz, Lititz, PA.
Born in Trenton, NJ, he was a longtime resident of Lawrenceville, Fairless Hills, PA and Hudson, FL before moving to Ephrata, PA. Edward proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War era. He is a retiree of Old Borough Savings and Loan, where he was the Branch Manager for many years. Edward was very involved with Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Denver, PA. He had a big heart and a great sense of humor. He was loved by all he met. Some of his favorite past times were spending time with his family and traveling. Edward was affectionally known for being the “candy man” and handing out toys and seeing the joy it brought to others. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed.
Predeceased by his parents James and Helen Barclay, his brothers Charles and Clifford Hagan, James, Henry, Herb and Roland Barclay, his sister Helen Russo, his daughter-in-law Deborah Barclay, his wife Margaret H. “Peg” Barclay; he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Margaret “Peggy” and David Wise; four sons Edward P. Jr., Rev. Douglas and Melodie Barclay, Rev. Alan and Kimberly Barclay and Richard and Bonnie Barclay; seventeen grandchildren and thirty three great-grandchildren; his brother William Barclay; his sisters-in-law Rose Barclay, Lorraine Berrien, Barbara Doncaster and Luann Corlett( Duane); his brother-in-law Harry Hogan (Jeannie); numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will follow on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 11AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
Interment will follow at Ewing Cemetery.
The viewing for Edward will be held on Saturday morning from 9:30-11AM at the funeral home.
