Obituary of James R. Springer
James R. Springer, 86, of Lawrenceville, died Thursday, November 1, 2018, at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, Philadelphia, Pa. Born in Bon Aqua, Tennessee, he attended American University while residing in Washington, D.C., and began his career as an advertising executive with Robert Klein in Richmond, Virginia, before moving to Lawrenceville in 1966 to join Dow Jones, Princeton, N.J. He later formed his own advertising agency, Ellentuck & Springer, in Princeton, N.J., where he remained until his retirement in 2005. James was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, stationed on aircraft carriers; was a member of American Legion Post 414, Lawrenceville; and was a member of the Church of St. Ann, including its “Dirty Dozen” fund-raising volunteers. He loved music of all kinds, especially country music, and in recent years enjoyed finding his favorite artists on his I-pad.
Son of the late John and Fairy Springer, he was married to his wife of 62 years, the late Rose Berenato Springer, from Hammonton, N.J., whom he met and married in Washington, D.C. He is survived by his children, Donna Marie Russo and her husband, Thomas M. Russo III, of Hamilton; James

Springer, Jr., and his wife, Judith Mras Springer, of Lawrenceville, and Kathleen Ann Mancini and her husband, Jeffrey Paul Mancini, of Midlothian, Virginia; his grandchildren, Patrick Russo, Christopher Springer, Gavin Springer, Emily Mancini, and Douglas Mancini; his sisters-in-law, Janice Springer, Iona Springer, and Anna Berenato, along with many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will begin on Monday at 9 a.m. at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, N.J. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at the Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceville Cemetery. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
