Dear Beach family,
When a family member showed me this in the paper I knew I needed to reach out. I was a student of Mr. Beach when I was in L.I.S. and took his health class. There is no chance Mr. Beach would ever be able to pick me out of a lineup, but it doesn't change how much I'll never forget him as a teacher. He was a truly great instructor, an amazingly kind person even to the most annoying of 4th graders, and let every single student at that school feel like they were cared about. I'm a teacher now and it only makes me look back with greater amazement to how truly special he was. I hope I can be half the teacher he was.
He was a legend and I'm sure you already knew this but I thought it was worth sharing anyway.

Dear Pat & Family,
I was unable to attend the services but I wanted to extend my deepest sympathy to all of you.I never worked at the same school with Dick but knew him through just teaching in the same district. I also served on several committees with him including the LTEA Scholarship Committee. He was a wonderful person to work with. Actually he was a wonderful person period! ....kind, considerate, and a real gentleman.
I hope all of your fond memories will get you through this period of sorrow.
So sorry for your loss.
Sincerely,
Marlene Lynch

ONE OF MY MOST TREASURED MEMORIES OF MY TENURE IN THE LAWRENCE SCHOOLS WAS BEING A COLLEAGUE OF RICHARD BEACH. HE AND I STARTED THE NEW INITIATIVE: OUTDOOR EDUCATION." RICHARD WAS THE DYNAMIC LEADER OF THIS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM. I ADMIRED THE MANY WAYS THAT RICHARD USED TO TEACH HIS CLASSROOM. HE KNEW EVERY STUDENT PERSONALLY AND PROVIDED A SMILE AND POSITIVE COMMENT TO EVERY STUDENT.IF YOU TALK WITH HIS FORMER STUDENTS THEY DESCRIBE RICHARD IN TERMS OF DEEP RESPECT AND ADMIRATION. I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT THE DRIVEWAY AROUND THE LAWRENCE INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL BE NAMED T'THE RICHARD BEACH BEACH.' THIS IS JUST ONE SMALL WAY OF SAYING 'THANK YOU' TO A REMARKABLE EDUCATOR. MR. 'K' Larry Ksanznak

I'm so sorry to hear that our corner of the world has lost Richard. The first time I met him was my first day of volunteering at St. Lawrence Rehab. He kindly gave me a tour of the entire facility, including the far reaches of St. Mary's, which he knew because of his generous visits there. Never a day of volunteering went by but what at least one patient was a former student of his who remembered him well and who could reminisce with him. He will be missed.

I am so sorry to hear that the world (and this town) has lost Mr. Beach. He was one of the most outstanding and memorable teachers I have ever had. I will never forget his “eyeball” stunt, the shattered classmates bike helmet and many other lessons we learned in Health class. They were always the talk of the playground! My mom to this day still chuckles about the time we “busted” him at ACME and he was shopping for a party with a cart full of junk food! He was a huge part of our community and we all knew how much he cared about us.
