Sandra Rak Murranko, 69, of Cream Ridge died Monday after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Born in Trenton, Sandy was a resident of Lawrenceville for many years before moving to Cream Ridge 8 years ago. She was a graduate of St. Hedwig’s Grammar School and Cathedral High School. Sandy was employed with Mercer Savings and Loan for over 20 years and afterwards continued on to work for West Windsor Township with the Building Code Enforcement Department before retiring in 2004. Upon moving to Cream Ridge Sandy became involved in their new community center and enjoyed helping plan activities. She loved being involved with arts and crafts and was a member of the “Red Hats”. Sandy was a member of the Church of the Assumption in New Egypt and the Altar Rosary Society at the church. But first and foremost in her life were her family and friends. Daughter of the late George and Josephine Dziak Rak she is survived by her husband of 50 years, John P. Murranko; her daughter, Michele Thompson and her husband Nathan of Freehold; her son, Mark Murranko and his wife Bethany of Hamilton Square; her grandchildren, Morgan, Elise and Zachary Thompson all of Freehold and Lindsay Morris of Philadelphia and Sean Morris of Hamilton Square. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial for Sandy on Friday at 12 Noon at St. Hedwig Catholic Church, 872 Brunswick Ave., Trenton. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery in Ewing. There will be no calling hours at the funeral home.
