Michael P Franko Obituary

Michael P. Franko, 85, of Lawrenceville, died Wednesday in the Compassionate Care Hospice.


Born in Trenton, he had resided in Lawrenceville since 1961.


He was a graduate of Rider College having received a B.A. in accounting.


Mr. Franko was a Navy veteran of World War II and served in the Pacific Theatre of Operations.


He was a retired golf professional from the Green Acres Country Club. Mr. Franko retired after thirty years as the head golf professional at the club.


He was a member of the Church of St. Ann, Lawrence Council #7000 Knights of Columbus, Lawrence Township American Legion Post # 414, and a Life Member of the New Jersey and National Professional Golf Association.


Mr. Franko was a former member of the Board of Directors and past president of the New Jersey P.G.A. and past president of the New Jersey Seniors Golf Association.


Son of the late Michael and Theresa Kohan Franko, he is survived by his wife Dorothy ""Dotty"" Harcar Franko, a son Michael Franko and his wife Brenda and two grandsons Michael and Paul Franko. Also surviving are a brother George Franko and his wife Nancy and a sister Margaret Vasily and several nieces and nephews.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM in the Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road in Lawrenceville. Burial will be in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle New Jersey Veterans Cemetery in Arneytown. Family and friends may call on Monday from 8:30 to 10 AM in the daily chapel at the Church of St. Ann.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Michael's memory be made to the Church of St. Ann, Faith Development Center, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08610
