Obituary of Thomas Patrick Smith

Thomas Patrick Smith, 67, of Trenton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at home surrounded by his children.

Born in Trenton, NJ, he remained a lifelong resident.  Thomas was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, having proudly and honorably served his country with the US Army.  During his time in service he was deployed to Germany, where he received his honorable discharge.  He was employed in maintenance with Princeton University for many years.  Thomas enjoyed fishing, watching baseball and spending quality time with family and friends.  He was a member of Narcotics Anonymous and was instrumental in mentoring those who struggled with and overcame addiction.

Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Naomi Smith, his former spouse Diane Solomon-Smith; he is survived by his children Cheri Elen Smith, Sarah E. Smith, Thomas R. Smith and Joshua D. Smith; his brother Joseph T. Smith, his sister Barbara Hopwood; several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Dot.

Funeral services will follow on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 10:30AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.

Interment will follow at Brigadier General Wm C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, N. Hanover Twp., NJ.

The viewing for will be held on Wednesday morning from 9:30-10:30 AM at the funeral home.
