Obituary of Richard J. McKeever

Richard J. McKeever, 87, of Hamilton, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Capital Health Regional Trauma Center, Trenton.

Born in Hillside, NJ, he was a resident of Lawrenceville for 50+ years before moving to Hamilton 3 years ago.  Richard is a Veteran of the Korean Conflict, having retired as Chief Petty Officer with the US Navy.  After his retirement he worked as the Food Service Director for Rutgers University and The Lawrenceville Prep School.  Richard worked for Weidel Realtors. He was a longtime parishioner and volunteer with numerous activities at The Church of St. Ann, volunteer with the Contact Suicide Prevention Hotline and a 13-year volunteer soccer coach with the Lawrence Township Recreational Program and longtime member of the Trenton St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee. Richard was the founding Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council#7000 and became a 4th degree Knight in 2015. His kind, caring and nurturing ways will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

Son of the late James and Mary Agnes McKeever; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Florence S. and Edward Mullen; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Florence and Patrick Caleguire; brother of the late Mary P’Simer, Anne, Agnes Lynn, Catherine, Elizabeth, James, David, Joseph, John “Tiny”, Ed and Don McKeever, husband of the late Helen McKeever and Barbara McKeever; he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Deborah and Ralph Long; his son and daughter-in-law Robert and Catherine McKeever; his grandchildren Sean (Katie) Long, Nicholas, Lucas and Christopher and Abigail McKeever; several nieces and nephews; his aunt Louise Guhl; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Edward “Buck” and Patricia Mullen; his step-children and their spouses George and Beth Geiger, Richard and Catherine Stillwell, John Kent and Christopher Kent; his step-grandchildren Michael Stillwell, Ryan and Stephanie Kent and Charlie Geiger.

The funeral for Richard will begin on Wednesday morning at 9AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM at The Church of St. Ann 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.

Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hamilton.

Relatives and friends can call on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 from 5-8PM and again on Wednesday morning from 8:30-9AM at the funeral home.
