Obituary of Catherine Theresa Bugdal

Catherine (Kay) Theresa Bugdal, 96, of Lawrence died peacefully on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Skilled Nursing Unit at Morris Hall with her loving daughter at her side. Kay was born in Trenton and resided there for most of her life. With her husband Ben she owned and operated Benny’s Corner Grocery Store in North Trenton for over 30 years. After retiring from Benny’s, she began a second career as a keypunch operator at the NJ State Police Headquarters in West Trenton retiring once again in 1985 after 23 years of service. Daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Wizga Kozak, wife of the late Benjamin G. Bugdal, sister of the late Helen Stoy, Stella Jacobson, Mary Tackett, Anna Maziarz and Joseph Maziarz and mother-in-law of the late Ken Stevenson, she is survived by her daughter Debbie Stevenson and granddaughter Katie Stevenson along with many nieces, nephews, and great and great-grand nieces and nephews. Two of Kay’s greatest joys in life were her granddaughter Katie and dancing the polka. Kay and Katie spent many, many laughter filled hours in each other’s company. Polka dances and festivals filled much of Kay’s leisure time. Kay spent the past 7 years being cared for by her daughter and the exceptionally loving and dedicated staff at Morris Hall. Memorial contributions in Kay’s name may be made to the Morris Hall 1 Bishops’ Drive, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648 so that others may have the opportunity to receive the same care that Kay was blessed with in her final years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 12 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel at Morris Hall, 1 Bishops’ Drive, Lawrenceville, NJ. Burial will follow in St. Hedwig Cemetery, Ewing. Visitation for family and friends will also be on Thursday from 10:00 Am to 11:00 AM at the chapel.
