Obituary of Irene Constance Roberts

Irene Constance Roberts, 86, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2018 at Brandywine Assisted Living at Pennington. Born in Trenton she was a Ewing resident for 59 years before residing in Pennington for the past 3 years. She retired from the Administrative Services (Accounts Payable) Department at Trenton State College in 1994 after 15 years. She was a member of Ewing Senior Club A and the Echo Club. Connie enjoyed reading and doing jigsaw puzzles. In earlier years she also enjoyed needlework, crafts, gardening, traveling and spending time at the shore. Connie had been exchanging letters with numerous pen pals overseas for 64 years. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. Daughter of the late Benjamin and Irene Hindley Walter, wife of the late Daniel C. Roberts and mother of the late Douglas Roberts, Connie is survived by her children, Sharon Holmes and her husband William, Kenneth Roberts and his wife Marsha, Debra Kanach and her husband James, Christopher Roberts and his wife Karen; her brothers and sisters, Robert Walter and his wife Barbara, Jean Dean and her husband Guy, John Walter, Joan Luther and her husband Frank, and David Walter; her grandchildren, Alex, Lexanna, Daniel and Joseph Roberts, Keri DiVia; her great-granddaughter Zoey DiVia and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral Services for Connie will be held on Thursday at 10:30 AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Mausoleum, Hamilton. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM at the funeral home.
